ListServ

InfoEd’s growing customer base has evolved over the years from an informal network to an organized community of interest. Customers have formed an official InfoEd Community Advisory Group (ICAG) to help structure both the dialog amongst customers and communications with InfoEd. The ICAG, though in its first year, has already proven to be an excellent medium for channeling feedback, lessons learned and development priorities. Working with the ICAG, InfoEd has established a group of product-based and general ListServs. It is the first step in building a fully interactive online community. We invite all customers to register for as many ListServs that might be applicable to them.

Mission

The InfoEd Listserv has been established for the express purpose of promoting a meaningful exchange of information between customers in regards to use of InfoEd software. The objective of the listserv is for the community to identify best practices through open dialog.

Terms and Conditions

The InfoEd Listserv is a private forum for use by customers' designated system and module administrators for licensed InfoEd modules and their direct management (i.e. Assistant Directors, Directors, and others that might not have assigned InfoEd roles, but are nonetheless directly involved and responsible for the configuration and use of InfoEd modules). The Listserv is expressly not open for general use by customer personnel or their agents. Valid users cannot assign their participation to a third-party. Limiting access ensures that Listserv discussions remain focused and relevant.

Eligible customer staff members who are seeking to subscribe to the listserv must agree to observe the Terms and Conditions set forth herein. Failure to observe the rules will result in the loss of Listserv privileges.

Scope

The Listserv is specifically dedicated to facilitating customer determinations regarding:

  1. The configuration of InfoEd modules
  2. Organizational/office practices related to daily administrative use of InfoEd modules
  3. Establishing and maintaining an InfoEd compliant systems infrastructure
  4. Approaches to InfoEd implementations - customer activities and deliverables
  5. Customer strategies for rolling out InfoEd to investigators/end users
  6. Accommodating evolving government/sponsor regulations within InfoEd modules
  7. Customer recommendations for enhancing InfoEd modules

InfoEd, in its role as Listserv host and moderator, will audit messages to ensure they fall within the scope defined above. Customer messages that fall outside of the scope will not be posted to the Listserv.

Note: The Listserv is reserved for communications between InfoEd customers and is not a vehicle for communicating with InfoEd itself.

The Listserv is not a 'help desk' or means of reporting questions or software issues to InfoEd customer service. Such items will not be posted on the Listserv. Support issues should be reported through the official mechanisms defined by InfoEd:

  1. by email via office@infoed.org, or;
  2. direct to a customer's designated InfoEd Product Specialist by email or phone.
Etiquette

Given the mission of this Listserv, we wish to promote a professional and courteous tone. In addition, not all Listserv members may have a large bandwidth capacity. To that end InfoEd suggests:

  • Use appropriate language - your message could be seen by users all over the world by people you may have never met and will be archived for years to come.
  • Refrain from personal attacks - we hope to maintain a courteous, professional tone at InfoEd. If you disagree with another member's posting please simply state why you disagree with the content of the posting. Be constructive.
  • Stay on topic - Messages outside of the defined Listserv scope will not be posted.
  • Quote selectively - when replying to a message, please quote only the portions of the original message which are appropriate to your reply.
  • Headings - Please use descriptive headings for all messages that you post to the listserv. Please attach at the end of your messages a standard identifier comprising a few lines that identifies you, your affiliation, and appropriate contact numbers (phone, fax, e-mail addresses).
  • Send unformatted text e-mail - some e-mail packages such as Outlook, Netscape Messenger or Eudora allow you to boldface, italicize or change the color of the e-mail text. These format changes actually add HTML tags to your message, and not all e-mail packages can read them. As a result, some e-mail packages will receive your messages as semi-gibberish text with HTML tags.
  • Use of English - While InfoEd has customers worldwide, we ask that English be used on the Listserv to ensure the broadest audience for all messages.
  • Distribution - All Listserv communications are private discussions solely for the benefit of the participants, and they cannot be electronically distributed, copied or otherwise published in any form without the express written consent of InfoEd and all other participants involved in the threaded discussions.

All messages will be reviewed by the InfoEd moderator before being released to the Listserv. This is primarily meant to block e-mail spamming, but the moderator reserves the right to reject any attempted posting.

Attachments

Important Note: InfoEd does not recommend the use of the ListServ to exchange documents attached to postings. InfoEd's concern is the possible rapid spread of a virus from an infected document to all users of the List who open the attachment. InfoEd is enabling attachments at the request of customers, but takes no responsibility for such documents. ListServ participants send and open documents transmitted via InfoEd ListServs at their own risk.

InfoEd's Role

InfoEd is hosting the customer Listserv as free service to enable customers to have collective discussions as a community with shared interests.

InfoEd appreciates that its customers are the appropriate arbiters of best practices. The company intends to maintain a relatively low profile on the Listserv.

InfoEd may occasionally post messages to the Listserv for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to:

  1. encouraging customers to fully leverage the inherent flexibility of InfoEd systems;
  2. promoting customer self-assessments of internal practices and system use;
  3. correcting misperceptions related to InfoEd products or services, and;
  4. broadcasting notification of company news.

InfoEd may also suspend or perma nently terminate the Listserv privileges of any customer or individual customer representative that similarly violates the Terms and Conditions of the Listserv.

InfoEd reserves the right to modify or change the rules without notice. InfoEd may also suspend, terminate or otherwise replace the Listserv as it deems necessary.

Disclaimer

InfoEd is expressly not responsible for the actions of its customers or the use of its systems in any circumstance. While InfoEd will moderate the Listserv, InfoEd is not liable for any statements made by InfoEd customers; nor the results of any advice taken by an InfoEd customer, and will be held harmless in any claim made related to discussions on the Listserv.
