University of Western Australia Going Live with InfoEd's Animal Ethics Software
Phased Implementation of Enterprise-wide Research Administration Software Solution
ALBANY, New York - May 15, 2009
InfoEd International, Inc., the leading provider of software solutions for electronic Research Administration (eRA), has announced The University of Western Australia has gone live with the InfoEd Lab Animals Management software module for automating the support of tracking protocol applications to streamline and enhance the operations of the Animal Ethics Office and Committees. As part of an enterprise-wide research administration initiative, The University of Western Australia contracted with the company for its pre- and post award grants, and ethics solutions.
The Animal Ethics Office at the University of Western Australia services an animal research community of approximately 450 personnel. The Animal Ethics Committee meets monthly and has a subsidiary Executive Group, which specifically processes amendments to existing protocols. The AEC processes approximately 150 new applications per year with another 100 amendments processed through the Executive Group. Approximately 350 protocols are active at any one time. The Animal Ethics Office is responsible for fulfilling annual reporting requirements to two separate regulatory authorities. The AEC staff are deeply committed to continuous improvement to their systems and are looking forward to the next phase of development in this area - that of electronic application submission by researchers.
Dr. Campbell Thomson, Director of Research Services for the University of Western Australia had this to say regarding the implementation: "Our University has forged a very strong partnership with InfoEd. The team is to be congratulated on another successful implementation, in this case Lab Animals Management, as support of the University's comprehensive research administration objectives."
Edward Johnson Jr., Vice-President of InfoEd International, indicated "InfoEd and UWA continue to foster the relationship that was started in 2008 with the implementation of the Proposal Tracking modules. Having configured, tested, and rolled out the Lab Animals Management module in only four months, the UWA implementation team continues to build on the success that began last year. It is a testament to their dedication that the modules continue to be implemented in a timely and organized fashion. With the Human Ethics and Biosafety modules currently in the implementation phases, I look forward to continuing our partnership to support their enterprise-wide research initiatives."
